The interviewer did an excellent job in articulating the facts and the reality that Dutton interfered with the process being followed by the police commissioner, so that Dutton could demonise refugees and persuade the public to align with his political agenda. At the time, a violent altercation had occurred between refugees and Papua New Guinean Naval personnel at one of the offshore immigration detention centres. Peter Dutton quickly announced that the violence had been prompted by a sexual assault perpetrated by two of the refugees.
