Now more than ever we need to support the Cuban people. With threats of invasion by the United states and a crippling blockade hitting the economy this initiative by the Australian Cuba friendship society is important. Both from a political and from mutual assistance point of view. Please support this campaign by walking riding conducting any activity from Australia to Cuba with love in June and July of 2026.

Please join us for our fifth year of this activity-based event where we collectively travel the distance between Havana and Canberra over eight weeks, raising awareness and funds for Cuba.
Over the past 4 years, our annual campaign From Australia to Cuba with Love has raised over $51,000 for medical needs and sustainable agricultural projects. However, this year is by far the most critical as Cuba remains poised to face imminent threats and intervention from the Trump administration.
Following 66 years since the imposition of the US economic blockade against Cuba, President Trump has ratcheted up sanctions by threatening any country or company that sends oil to Cuba. Across the island the population is experiencing lengthy electricity blackouts daily, affecting all sections of the Cuban economy and social infrastructure (including restrictions to medical procedures, school and university classes) and causing further hardship for everyday Cuban people in their homes.
Energy security has been identified as one of the top two priorities in Cuba at this moment. International solidarity is ramping up and here in Australia our campaign From Australia to Cuba with Love will be fundraising for the provision of a solar system to secure the energy needs of a community home for orphaned children in the Guantanamo province.

We are looking forward to launching our campaign this Saturday 13th June.
If you are in Brisbane, please come and join us at the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, use the entrance at the corner of Alice & Albert Streets and look for the Cuban flag once inside. We’ll be meeting at 12 noon, followed by a walk across to Kangaroo Point, then a shared lunch at about 1.30 pm in the Gardens near Parliament House.
Please bring some food to share, it will be a great gathering and a perfect way to kick off this year’s campaign and notch up a few kms between us. There is a small chance of a shower so you might want to carry an umbrella.
For those of us participating in the walk, there will be people in the group who will stay near the Alice & Albert Streets entrance to take care of anything you’d like to leave behind, including the food for our shared lunch. They will then transfer everything to the final location in the Botanic Gardens for the end of our walk.
What to Bring: Bring some food to share for lunch, a water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Wear your campaign tee-shirt if you have one. We’ll have a few on hand for sale. There is a small chance of a shower so you might like to bring an umbrella. We can make last-minute decisions on the day.
Please bring any friends, family, workmates, who you think might join to our campaign, please invite them along this Saturday.
They may like to register online: https://www.mycause.com.au/events/fromaustraliatocubawithlove2026
We hope to see you there
