This historic moment

As you know, the Big Ride for Palestine Australia has now operated for ten years, from 2017 to 2026.

Today, the 17 October 2026, marks the beginning of a three-week campaign to raise awareness against the background of the continuing genocide in Gaza, the ongoing blockade, recurring deadly Israeli military attacks and the devastation wrought by past offensives.

In this historical context, we ride again.

Over the years, we have travelled thousands of kilometres and raised more than $300,000 on this road to a free Palestine.

We are inspired by the sumud of the Palestinian people and the solidarity campaigns”: many flotillas bringing aid and hope, by the Gaza Sunbirds and the children’s rides, and by the turning tide of millions organising from the grassroots during the past three years of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank, amid devastation across the region, including Lebanon.

From Hobart to Brisbane, from Sydney to Adelaide, in Naarm and in the West, we are riding, walking and swimming for Palestine.

On the Gold Coast, along waterfront bike trails, Free Palestine shirts are flapping in the breeze.

Our chant will ring out along the bikeways:

Gaza, Gaza, don’t you cry,
We won’t ever let you die.

We’ve been on the edge. We’ve seen police, governments and courts testing our movement.

The Bourj El Barajneh camp awaits our help, with its social programs for women. Gaza, once a jewel, now lies in ruins. With the help of Ma’an Development, people continue the struggle to survive this Holocaust. We will help in this small way by joining the big ride.

From the port of Jaffa to Nablus, along roads tramped by hundreds of thousands during the Nakba of 1948; from Jenin to Hebron, where uprisings began a century ago, our road is one of memory, resistance and solidarity.

“Standing here, always here, eternally here, we have one aim and one aim only… to continue to be” — Mahmoud Darwish

Wanting only to be, as the wind brushes against our faces, the Big Riders for Palestine will fly like the Sunbirds in Gaza.

Ride. Raise funds. Build solidarity. Justice for Palestine!
