The war of the world

” … across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to the beasts in the jungle, intellects vast, cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.” the ‘War of the Worlds’ by HG Wells.

We play here John Mearsheimer & Sergey Karaganov discussing why Russia is considering a nuclear strike on Europe.

Why are these professors talking about nuclear weapons?

The war in Ukraine should never have happened. It was a minor regional dispute that should have been settled in the United Nations.  The United States is calling up reservists as far away as Australia. These educators speak only of the elites. It was these elites that gave us Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima.

Workers in these countries could do well to remember the words of Bertolt Brecht,  in “The Tombstone of the Unknown Soldier of the Revolution” :

“He who lies here, it said, marched not to conquer a foreign land, but his own.”

The 1917 revolution in Russia began because Russian soldiers refused to fight and returned home to support the Revolution and to overthrow the Csar (the elites).

Have a listen to the discussion compered by Prof Glenn Diesen.
