At Foco Nuevo last night, some great support for the Voice was given by local musicians Sue, Lachlan, Ross and James from Jumping Fences. Lachlan Hurse pointed out that this is a defining moment in the history of First Nations people in this country, citing the 1967 referendum, the 1982 Commonwealth Games land rights protests, the 1988 bicentennial protests, Paul Keating’s Redfern speech where he acknowledged the genocide, the ‘Sorry’ statement by the Rudd government and now ‘the Voice’ referendum.. Steve Tyson from the other band at the gig, Rough Red, also gave his support to the Voice. Jumping Fences encouraged people to get behind the Yes campaign with this song:
