The Times of Israel, a conservative Israeli newspaper, breathes a sigh of relief after The Voice of Hind Rajab does not win an Oscar. So does the Australian government, complicit in genocide, backing Israel and the United States in a brutal war with Iran. This war has all the hallmarks of the genocide in Gaza, the most severe bombardment in history. US/Israel are bombing schools, hospitals, civilian infrastructure just as they have done in Gaza.

Usually, the news would be, XYZ movie has won an Oscar under a specific category, but the Israeli headline and article are framed around this movie not winning.
It is important to consider why.
The Voice of Hind Rajab is a very powerful movie that tells the story of young Hind in her family’s car, surviving an attack by a nearby Israeli tank.
Under enforced displacement Hind is the only survivor, and recordings of her calling emergency services for help is the script. Eventually, Hind and the ambulance services sent to rescue her were killed by the same tank.
If you’re in Brisbane, it is playing in New Farm cinema and The Barracks.

Light
Some regional towns are already rationing petrol especially diesel.
Shadow
Over the years, since it became the motto of the Palestine Liberation Organisation in the 60s, ‘From the river to the sea‘ has taken on a meaning without substitute.
From the river to the sea
Palestine will be free
From the sea to the river
Palestine will live forever
Gaza Gaza don’t you cry
We won’t ever let you die!
West Bank West Bank
We have you to thank
Palestine Liberation
Falasteen is a nation
F35s fall from the sky!
Exist, Resist, Return
a substantial one;
the Feds say they do not have the power to ration petrol, which is true when we are not at war
but we are
but to activate the War Powers of the Constitution wold admit that embarrassing truth
Not that we want them to do so since it would give them the Power to declare every protest a crime
A lighter one
when ‘To the river to the sea‘ is a crime, how inventive can we be?
From the Jordan to the Med
Palestine is never dead.
From the Med to the Jordan
Palestine …. over to you for a rhyme
