Justice for Palestine activist and member of Doikayt* Edward Carroll appeared in court over Queensland’s new hate speech laws. Supporters gathered outside the court, including activists from Justice for Palestine Magan-djin.
Justice for Palestine Magan-djin called a media conference on Friday 8 May 2026 at Brisbane Magistrate Court in support of those charged during its April weekend of action. As part of NOT OUR LAW campaign JFP is supporting a legal and constitutional action against these laws.
*Doikayt (Yiddish: דאָיִקייט, lit. ’Hereness’) is a principle which states that Jews have a right to live and organize wherever they reside, and that they should focus on the challenges facing their local communities. An elections poster for the Bund in Kyiv, 1917, read “There, where we live, there is our country!” (Yiddish: דארטען, וואו מיר לעבען, דארט איז אונזער לאנד!), a slogan which is considered to encapsulate the concept of doikayt
