I write as a resident of [Wynnum, Manly, Tingalpa, Cleveland and greater Brisbane Magan-djin], who is deeply concerned about F-35 parts manufacturing taking place in our community and its connection to ongoing genocide in Gaza.Since October 2023, allegations of serious violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza have been widely documented and debated internationally. Civilian deaths — including those of children — have caused widespread alarm and grief. Despite political declarations of a “ceasefire,” Israel continues to murder Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The UN-mandated Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Australian human rights lawyer Chris Sidoti, has accused Israel of genocide. Proceedings are ongoing before the International Court of Justice.
It is also reported that State and Federal governments are actively funding Ferra Engineering’s operations in Tingalpa [See Queensland government funding]. Residents are concerned about the ethical and civic implications of public money supporting weapons manufacture and the lack of transparency about the end use of these components complicit in genocide in Gaza.
We are asking:
– What oversight exists regarding the end use of these components?
– What are council/governments doing to prevent complicity in war crimes?
– What accountability mechanisms govern local, state and federal funding of Ferra Engineering?
– Why has the local community not been properly informed of weapons part manufacture by its representatives?
– Please provide a clear statement supporting sanctions on weapons exports to Israel.
As our elected representatives, you have a responsibility to ensure transparency, accountability, and community consultation in matters that directly impact our residential suburbs. Please provide a response addressing these questions.
You are invited to attend the assembly outside Ferra Engineering at 344 New Cleveland Road Tingalpa 4173 on Monday 30 March 2026 between dawn and midday. We will be interested to hear what you have to say.
History will judge the clarity and courage of those in public office.
Sincerely,
