Every year, Cane Toads (Rhinella marina) wreak havoc on Australian native wildlife, poison thousands of pets and even impact local agriculture.
Cane Toads can live for over 10 years in the wild, and breed prolifically every year – a female can produce up to 35,000 eggs each time she reproduces! Every Cane Toad Counts!
Getting involved is easy:
Get ready for the bust! You can join in the Great Cane Toad Bust on your own, or by teaming up with friends, family and neighbours! Check our website for community events happening near you.
Tackle Cane Toads in your area! Get out toad busting and tadpole trapping for most effective Cane Toad control. Count your catch afterwards and submit your data to join the Bust.
Humanely euthanise your toads. Check out our humane euthanasia guide and responsibly dispose of all Cane Toads. In some areas, Drop Off Points accept live toads and will euthanise for you – check our website for more details!
In previous years we removed over 50,000 Cane Toads – let’s beat that this year!
It’s a fun activity for the whole family while doing something beneficial for the environment.

‘Last Sunset’ recalls the last day of freedom before colonial invasion of this continent. As Magan-djin/Meanjin/Brisbane mobilises for Invasion Day 2025, we’re gathering activists, thinkers and creators to share practical skills and knowledge for the struggle.
Grounding the day in the continued resistance of sovereign Blackfullas, we draw the links between colonial violence here and elsewhere. By strengthening our collective skills, networks and knowledge, we sustain our movements for solidarity with Blackfullas, Palestinians, West Papuans, Kanaky and oppressed peoples everywhere.
‘Last Sunset’ will include a Welcome to Country, guest speakers, practical skillshares and actions alongside banner painting and reflections. We’ll finish up with a community dinner and live music. Stay tuned for artist and speaker announcements!
This is a free event, but registrations are essential to make sure we can feed you all!

Benarrawa Survival Day Ceremony

All Australians are invited to come along to the Benarrawa Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Solidarity Group’s local acknowledgement of Survival Day, January 26th, for a short ceremony at the waters of Benarrawa (Yuggera word for the lands and waterways of the Oxley Creek). On this day we honour the survival of the First Peoples of this country, especially the people who lived, gathered, raised their families and cared for the waters and lands along the banks of the Brisbane River and Benarrawa.
What to bring:
Clap sticks, a hat, water, sunscreen, a rug to sit on and/or folding chairs, native flowers to be cast into the bronze canoe and then creek as part of ceremony, your own keep cup/mug and possibly a named thermos of hot water for breakfast cuppa if you planning on staying, a small plate of food that’s easily shareable for the shared community breakfast after the ceremony if you plan to stay.

Invasion Day 2025 – We Have Survived!

Stand in solidarity & goodwill with First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) peoples on this day to mark Invasion Day, a Day of Mourning and Survival Day.
Join us! 87 years since the first Day of Mourning, community will come together, to acknowledge and pay respects to those who have marched before.
Come and be part of history. We know there are over 1.2 million First Nations allies in Queensland and this is your call to action!
Assemble 10.00am at Queens Gardens Magandjin (Brisbane).
Bring your family, bring your friends and bring your neighbours to commemorate the true history of this country.
After 11.00am community will lead a 4.7km procession to Musgrave Park where we will gather. There will be an open mic and time for community to network.

We’re excited to announce “Artists for Victoria Park,” a day on the green where you’re invited to come and draw, paint or sketch Victoria Park in all its glory! Not creatively inclined? No problem! Bring your family, friends and children for a relaxing day out on the green, soaking up the beauty of the park while watching art come to life. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just beginning, this is your chance to get creative while supporting the fight to save Brisbane’s largest inner-city green space.
Special Guest: Renowned artist David Hinchliffe will be there to offer advice, inspiration, and encouragement to artists of all levels. Let’s come together to celebrate the park’s natural beauty and raise awareness to protect it for future generations.
For Artists: Bring your own materials (easel, paints, pencils, or whatever sparks your creativity) and capture the essence of this iconic park.
For Observers and Art Lovers: Pack a picnic, wander the park, and enjoy the magic as incredible artworks come to life around you.

Boeing makes a killing manufacturing and selling weapons to countries such as Israel, and our government is supporting them to do it.
Join the weekly protests outside the Boeing offices in the city and let them know you will not be complicit in their war crimes.
