For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you can not visit, not even in your dreams. – Kahlil Gibran.
KHALED AND REEM both shared a birthday on 23 December. Neither will celebrate this year, 2024. Both were murdered in Gaza by Israel’s bombardment, Reem was murdered at 2am on November 29, 2023, in the shattered remains of Deir al-Balah, a refugee camp in Gaza.
On 16 December 2024, we were in the middle of a Justice for Palestine Magan-djin meeting when our friend, Binil, gave us the sad news with this message: “Khaled Nabhan, the grandfather who said ‘Soul to my soul’ has been martyred.”
Omar, a Palestinian from Gaza, offered to give a speech in their honour at this Friday’s rally in Queens Gardens.

“The Gaza Health Ministry said 45,028 people have been killed and 106,962 have been wounded since the start of the war. It has said the real toll is higher because thousands of bodies are still buried under rubble or in areas that medics cannot access.” See https://www.dailysabah.com/
What were they thinking in 1948?
Ironically, it is the United Nations that recognised Israel in 1948, underwriting the theft of Palestinian land, the UN that now calls for a state of Palestine. The Australian Labor Party, through Doc Evatt when he was President of the UN General Assembly. voted in favour of Israel.
The murderous rampage by the Zionists continued then, and continues now. Who will stop it? After the fall of Assad in Syria, Israel has stolen more Druze land in the Golan. It will be interesting to see how the Druze respond, especially given that most of them refused Israeli citizenship when the land was taken in 1967.
Trump claims that the new Syrian government is an ‘unfriendly takeover’. No, it is by groups that the United States funded. Meanwhile, al Jazeera reports that: “Biden praises overthrow but warns of uncertainty, as analysts question his administration’s years-long deprioritisation of Syria.” The US deserves Trump, or at least half do.
There is no peace in sight for the Palestinians, annexed on the West Bank, settlers running amok, and the IDF bombing Gaza into extinction. There is no peace until the United States is defeated.

18 December

We can’t wait until they’re defeated. We have to do something now! However, I don’t like our chances. I just read an article where several of these red hot Zionists that called Jimmy Carter anti-Semitic and anti- Israel and all these other biased things when he told the truth in 2006 – That the Israelis are committing apartheid.. are all lining up to apologize.. a bit late, Mate! Another interesting point brought forward in the article was that all the major media outlets only used Zionist viewpoints when Mr Carter told the truth and that there was not one opinion from a Palestinian.
You say we can’t wait until the United States is defeated.
What do you propose?

Protest: No Christmas In Gaza. No Christmas in Bethlehem
6-8pm at Post Office Square [Facebook event link]
Join us in remembering Gaza at Christmas, Friday 20th December at 6pm in Post Office Square.
As we prepare to spend time with our loved ones over the holidays, we are reminded that there is No Christmas in Gaza, and No Christmas in Bethlehem again this year. Indiscriminate Israeli bombings of sovereign Palestine have reduced important cultural sites to rubble.
We bear witness to these atrocities on our screens, increasingly aware of the contribution of our country and our government to Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people. We are calling on our government to demand a permanent ceasefire, we are calling for sanctions and divestment NOW!
In the face of adversity we do not back down, we rise, time and time again and we are fuelled by the ongoing Palestinian resistance. We need to continue to demand liberation for Palestine. Call to stop the genocide! And freedom for Palestine!
