American war on Gaza

Where the stench is biggest,
The biggest words are spoken.
If a man has to stop his nose
How is he to stop his ears?
— Bertolt Brecht,
‘On the News of the Tory
Bloodbath in Greece’

The United States (along with its allies, including Australia) is running two proxy wars and losing both: in Ukraine and in Gaza. Australia has been providing arms and bushmaster armoured vehicles to Ukraine and the Defence minister is considering sending a warship to the Red Sea at the request of the US. In the 1960s and 70s, the American war in Vietnam was not won by the liberal press, nor by the protests on campuses in the United States, not by the Congress, nor by change of government in Australia, certainly not by Henry Kissinger and not by the Paris peace talks. That war against the US was won by Vietnamese people and by no one else.

In the war on Gaza, if it is to be won, it will be won by Palestinian resistance. The Australian government has placed itself on the side of genocide along with the United States and Israel. Prime Minister Albanese waited 67 days to call for a ceasefire when, according to international military strategists, it became clear that Israel was not winning the war against the Palestinian resistance on either a political or on a military level. A small band of Palestinian fighters has held off one of the most powerful and well resourced military (Israeli Occupation Forces) in the world.

The so-called international community represented by the United Nations has proven unable to get to the root cause of the problem, that is the Israeli occupation of Palestine since 1948. So it has little if anything to offer but words. No peace keeping force has been proposed. Why? The United States is arming Israel and will not allow it. The US president has diverted arms from Ukraine to Israel in order to assist in the murderous bombing of Gaza by Israel.

During the past 70 years, Israel has become the greatest vandal in history and may prove to be the most murderous. It can’t survive. From the river to the sea, Palestine must be free. Ian Curr, 15 Dec 2023.

  1. Gareth Smith says:

The US is the greatest threat to peace and justice on the planet. It foments wars and then feeds its merchants of death vast blood profits. It poses as a force for democracy but actually stamps out any democratic movements.
