Anti nuclear friends,
You are invited to join peace groups in Brisbane in commemorating the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 5th and 8th August.Seventy six years ago, without warning, the US dropped a nuclear bomb on the city of Hiroshima, followed three days later by one on Nagasaki.
The impact of such a cataclysmic event must never be forgotten. – the unimaginable death, destruction, and human misery, the burns, radiation sickness, and the dislocation of so many lives. No country has the facilities to deal with human suffering on such a monumental scale.
The commemoration of Hiroshima is not only to remember the victims but to call for the abolition of all nuclear weapons, and to campaign to get the Morrison Government to sign the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons or the Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty, is the FIRST LEGALLY BINDING INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT TO COMPREHENSIVELY PROHIBIT NUCLEAR WEAPONS with the ultimate goal being their total elimination.
ACTIONAsk your local councillor, state and federal members of parliament to push the government to sign the treaty.
