Activists for Palestine yesterday disrupted a luncheon organised the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce at the Brisbane Hilton Hotel.
The activists were in support of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions campaign calling for Israel to be economically isolated by the international community. They also came to challenge the guest speaker of the function, former Qld Premier Peter Beattie. Mr Beattie was famously arrested protesting South African apartheid in the 1970’s; the group claim that it is hypocrisy for him to now speak at pro-Israel events.
