WOMADelaide 2013 has taken money from the Israeli Embassy and ignored the call of Palestinian civil society for an academic and cultural boycott of Israel until it respects human rights and complies with International law.
We have written to the organisers to reconsider the sponsorship from the Israeli Embassy for one of their acts. We haven’t received acknowledgment but we know some individuals who have written to them have received replies in line with whitewashing and normalising Apartheid. The letter is on our Website:
We are asking as many people as possible to write to the festival organisers to reconsider their decision. WOMADelaide email is apadmin@artsprojects.com.au
Could you also support the Artists Against Apartheid Website and Facebook Page. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Artists-Against-Apartheid-AU/285447494859436
You might also consider contacting any of your favourite performers who are part of the program and asking them to pressure the festival to reject the funds from the Israeli government. The program can be found here http://www.womadelaide.com.au/
