New York coup – who will cave first?

“There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party … and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat” – Gore Vidal.

In two places, New York and California, Gore Vidal's argument that the US is a one-party-state with two right wings is looking shaky. There are now two America's, both with right wings. The Democratic Party were defeated in the US presidential election because they chose a moderate tainted with entitlement. The Democratic Party failed because it oversaw the making of greater inequality as it is required to do under capitalism. Biden was lucky to win in 2020. Without covid the GOP probably would have won. The Biden administration failed the test by increasing unemployment and inflation while making the rich even richer.

On Palestine, Trump was on a winner when Karmala Harris had failed to mask her zionism (more correctly, her duty to 'the lobby'). Nationalists don't like Israel running their country. Until the largest Jewish town in the world voted for a pro-palestinian muslim who opposes USreal's genocide in Gaza. 

Democrat Zohran Mamdani leaves Trump with a couple of options. To withdraw funding from the Big Apple is one. Trump has already sent troops into Los Angeles (California), Portland (Oregon), Washington DC, and Chicago (Illinois).

Another option is to dispense with the 2028 presidential elections. Trump's association with Epstein is catching up with him. He has let Netanyahu run riot in Palestine. Not even Angelina Jolie's billions can save the children of Gaza (if they even want her to in the first place).

Regardless, the military industrial estate continues the genocide. Even more weapons are being sent by the United States, Britain, Germany, and, of course, Australia to finish the job. No legislator is willing or powerful enough to stem the tide. The New York mayor can't even stop Netanyahu from coming to the United Nations even though he is nominally the boss of the NYPD. Unless Mamdani wants even more troops on the streets of New York, that is. 

There are plenty of precedents for the backlash. When Allende won in Chile in 1973, the Popular Unity government was overthrown by Pinochet, a CIA-backed coup by the military.

Is Zohran a socialist? The no kings movement is backed by NGOs funded by billionaire George Soros. AOC has gone to ground and centered herself in preparation for a bid for the candidacy. 

New York was built by immigrants and slaves, Italians, Irish, Jewish, African Americans, and Eastern Europeans.

Who will cave first? Trump's America or Mamdani's?
