Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations. From IHRA’s definition of anti-semitism.
Nixon put aside his racist hatred of Jewish people and backed Israel. So is Nixon anti-semitic according to the IHRA definition of anti-semitism? In this recorded conversation with Billy Graham (February 1, 1972), US President Richard Nixon had this to say (in the White House tapes):
Graham: “This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country’s going down the drain … the synagogue of Satan.”
Nixon: “Oh, boy. So do I. I can’t ever say that, but I believe it.”
Charlie Kirk shared those views when he was assassinated. Nixon appointed Jewish people to office, but thought about them in stereotypes.
Nixon on hiring Jewish people (September 13, 1971):
“Generally speaking, you can’t trust the bastards. They turn on you. Am I wrong or right?”
Yet Nixon appointed Henry Kissinger as his secretary of state, and on advice from Kissinger, helped Israel win the ‘Yom Kippur’ War in 1973.
Nixon’s decision to airlift arms to Israel was decisive for Israel’s survival. Despite misgivings about American Jews, he overruled hesitation within the State Department and Pentagon. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir later credited him with ensuring Israel’s security.
Trump has refused a visa to the leader of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, to speak at the UN vote this week on Palestinian statehood.
Kissinger gave similar advice to Nixon: “Now there is a resolution to have Arafat speak at the UN as representative of the Palestinians. If we vote against it, we get an explosion in the Arab world … On balance, I recommend to vote against; but we will pay a heavy price.”

Nixon on the Vietnamese people: “We can bomb the bejesus out of them all over North Vietnam.”
Kissinger in a memo in January 1972: “We have had 10 years of total control of the air in Laos and V.Nam. The result = Zilch. … Shake them up!!”
And again in on April 15, 1972, Kissinger reports: “They dropped a million pounds of bombs.”
Nixon responds: “A million pounds of bombs … Goddamn, that must have been a good strike.”
When the late Cuban President Fidel Castro was asked about the 1960 US elections, which one he preferred, Nixon or Kennedy?
Fidel gave this answer: “You can not compare two shoes worn by the same person. America is governed by only one party, the Zionist Party, and it has two wings:
The Republican wing represents the hardline Zionist power, and the Democratic wing represents the soft Zionist power. There is no difference in goals and strategies. The means and tools differ slightly, giving each president a sense of privacy and room for maneuver.“
Castro’s description of the American presidency still holds true. Today, Fidel would be branded as an antisemite.
