“.. the worst possible outcome for Australia is war between China and the US in which we become involved” – retired Major General Michael Smith.
This podcast from the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) discusses the extensive US military buildup in Australia and Pacific nations as part of preparations for a potential war against China. Key points include the establishment of significant US bases in South Korea, Japan, and Australia, such as Pine Gap and Harold E Holt naval communications station. The 2014 Force Posture Agreement (FPA) grants the US operational control over key facilities and access to Australian ports. The US is also expanding logistics centers and pre-positioning equipment in Australia and Papua New Guinea. The Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) calls for the cancellation of AUKUS and the FPA to prevent Australia’s involvement in a US-China conflict. [Thanks to Bevan Ramsden and Andrew Fullarton from IPAN]. – Ian Curr Ed., 25 July 2025.
