These tragic losses raise important questions about the safety of the new aid system and the role of US security companies operating under the direct supervision of the Israeli occupation forces.
This policy brief shows that the privatisation of aid and security in Gaza violates basic humanitarian principles, turning aid into a tool for political control, ethnic cleansing, and the perpetuation of colonialism. It threatens the lives of Palestinians by tying access to aid to coercive conditions, facilitating forced displacement, and providing legal and moral cover for occupation violations. This privatisation also contributes to marginalising and undermining the role of local and international institutions, particularly UNRWA, which has played a pivotal role in supporting Palestinian refugees in Gaza for decades.
