‘Vale to the martyr Sinwar’

Teals independent Zoe Daniels was defeated by an alleged “Proud Zionist” Liberal Tim Wilson in the recent federal election. Surely this AJN newspaper advert can’t be true? To be published with an outrageous article by Bruce Hill in the AJN describing how Israeli Occupation forces brutally executed resistance fighter, Yahya Sinwar.

Mass Murdoch not only wants the HAMAS leaders dead, but wants all those who support the resistance dead as well. Gazans still call Sinwar a martyr even though some may disagree with his tactics.

Author Karen Wyld was to be the winner of the State Library of Queensland’s “Black and Write” First Nations literary award, which was due to be presented today (Tuesday 20 May 2025).  However, Liberal Party Queensland Arts minister intervened and cancelled the award because Karen Wyld is a vocal supporter of Palestine.  John-Paul Langbroek informed Mass Murdock of the decision before Karen Wyld or any of the other finalists were told.

Karen Wyld had this to say:

“Why am I speaking up? A significant cultural institution has withdrawn $15000 from me because of a tweet, posted about 7 months ago, that was not controversial (but could have been worded with less emotion), that I deleted shortly after posting. For that post, I’m being punished … Yes, losing this opportunity is a significant blow. But I will not be silenced.

Genocide, apartheid, forced starvation, the murder of children—these are horrific crimes against humanity. And I say: shame on anyone who refuses to condemn such brutality being inflicted on the Palestinian people.

I’m not a public figure with power or wealth. I’m a broke nobody who detests genocide. The people attacking me are privileged cowards.

I won’t give my voice to Murdoch media. But I am open to speaking with other outlets. And beyond this, I’ve got a historical literary fiction manuscript—non-controversial—that now needs a publisher.

The fight continues. On all fronts.”

The Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) wrote to the Minister for the Arts Tony Burke asking for a review of arts funding to identify publicly-funded artists who are promoting terrorism, extremism or antisemitism. The Jewish Independent pointed the finger at Aboriginal writers including Karen Wyld.

The Zionist Federation wrote: “Karen Wyld, an artist who eulogised October 7 instigator Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar writing, “Vale to the martyr Sinwar. Resisting colonisation until his last breath, fighting the genocidal oppressors like a hero, sacrificing his life for love of his people and ancestral land.”

Now the fascist state of Israel is after Yahya Sinwar’s brother. In order to kill Mohammed Sinwar, the latest devil, the IDF used nine bunker buster bombs, murdering maiming all those in the vicinity – everything to provide Yedioth Ahronoth (Israel’s largest newspaper) in their lust for the main headline: “In his brother’s footsteps“.

The genocide did not begin on 7 October … there was al Nakba in 1948, then al Naksa in 1967, then Tel al-Zaatar massacre in 1976, then Shabra and Shatilla in 1982 … then Gaza again and again til now. https://workersbushtelegraph.com.au/…/little-peace-at…/

Following the BCC led by Lord Mayor Schrinner, decision to withdraw its $25,000 funding for the QMusic awards after Kellee Green won with her song From the River to the Sea. Queensland premier Crisafulli and the LNP State Government have bowed to the State of Israel/ Zionists and directed the State Library of Queensland / Arts Queensland to suspend the Black & Write award and cancel the ceremony and the funding to this years First Nations recipient, Karen Wyld for her pro Palestine comments. Looks like free speech is only for some in the community – the powerful, zionists and denialists of the genocide that is occurring in Palestine.

The State Library of Queensland and Arts Queensland leadership should have refused to suspend the award and awarded the prize won by Karen Wyld, and upheld the principles of free speech. If not the leadership of these State Instituimos then where is the Library Association #ALIA and #IFLA response in support of free speech and saying no to censorship.,#FreePalestine#EndtheGenocide

  1. We are a group of Meanjin (Brisbane) writers and activists who are deeply concerned by the escalating political intervention in awards and fellowships for artists who have spoken out against the ongoing genocide in Gaza*. We believe all artists should be able to speak against apartheid and injustice without fear of political reprisals.

If you share our concerns about the recent political intervention to rescind First Nation’s writer K A Ren Wyld’s literary award, please join us from 2pm-4pm on Saturday 31 May, in the State Library of Queensland ( SLQ) knowledge walk for a silent protest. If you have a “Writers & Readers Against the Genocide” T-shirt, please wear it. Please bring signs supporting SLQ’s Black & Write Writing Fellowship, solidarity with Ren signs, and/or Free Palestine signs and a cushion or camping chair to sit on.

This will be a silent and peaceful protest – we won’t be chanting or marching – just sitting in solidarity.

    * Artists whose livelihoods have been affected by speaking out against the livestreamed genocide include: KA Ren Wyld, Kellee Green, Khaled Sabsabi & Michael Dagostino, Jayson Gillham, Omar Sakr, Antoinette Lattouf and many more.

    Please share widely.

  2. “At least four judges for the Queensland literary awards have resigned over the past 24 hours, protesting against the State Library of Queensland’s decision to withdraw a prestigious $15,000 fellowship from First Nations writer Karen Wyld over comment she made last year about the Gaza conflict.

The 2022 Stella award winning poet Evelyn Araluen, Wiradjuri academic and writer Dr Jeanine Leane, writer and reviewer Nigel Featherstone and Gamilaroi poet Luke Patterson all confirmed to Guardian Australia on Friday they have resigned from the awards’ judging panels. It is believed several other judges have also resigned, but wish to remain anonymous.”

  4. “Black and Write” is a major indigenous cultural event/process, which has been politically cancelled. The decision of the Aboriginal judging panel has been over-ridden by the state – no self determination even in the arts. This comes on top of the government scrapping the treaty process.
