In Brisbane, we finished The Big Ride for Palestine with a walk around the Brisbane River, under the flowering Jacaranda trees, which created a carpet of purple. Fallen flowers for the fallen in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
The horror of the genocidal war gave a enormous sense of gravity to our campaign, but we take pride in the generous contributions of more than 400 donors giving over $24,000 to assist with the emergency relief being coordinated by Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA through the Ma’an Development Centre and the Palestinian Women’s Humanitarian Organisation. Our solidarity efforts were concluded with dancing from the Al Zayton Dabke troupe, leading us in a celebration of Palestinian culture.
