Everything will be remembered; Everything recorded …. we will speak so loud even the deaf will hear …” – Aamir Aziz.
On 13 May 2023 in Meanjin, there was a re-enactment of Israeli soldiers storming the al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Before a crowd of about 200 people, this brutal scene was played out outside King George Square station at 2.20pm . People were carrying the names of 550 Palestinian villages and towns destroyed by Israeli militia during al Nakba in 1948. The rally and march was organised by Justice for Palestine (Meanjin). Similar events are taking place throughout Australia and the world as people pushing for change recognise the failure of Israeli democracy built on a flawed alliance with the United States seeking to retain influence in the region.
