Opposition to poor development in our suburbs, along with the destruction of our vegetation and subsequently our wild life, is growing. There are quite a few groups willing to show Brisbane City Council that we are not happy with the current state of planning and development.
On the 8th of May the community will gather for a rally at Kangaroo Point with speeches given by numerous people, including Jonathon Sri (Councillor for the Gabba Ward) and Christa Adams (Deputy Mayor, Chair, City Planning and Economic Development Committee). This rally has been instigated by the Lambert Street community in Kangaroo Point and equally concerned residents from other suburbs, such as Toowong, Taringa, Corinda, St. Lucia, and Kelvin Grove. We hope this combined effort, from community groups all across Brisbane, can continue beyond the rally in order to improve Brisbane’s planning and development and protect the environment.
Attached is a flyer the organisers are circulating. They are also creating a Facebook page for this event so if you are interested in accessing that please let me know and I will forward it to you upon receipt.
This may not be your scene but the more support we can gain the greater our chance of showing Council we are not happy with the current planning of Brisbane.
