The receptionist at this medical centre says that everyone ‘is ringing in and wishes to be tested’.
If you ring the number they will tell you that you can’t be tested unless you have tavelled from OS or been in contact with someone who has – which means nearly everyone in a city.
A person I know rang five different medical numbers; she is at risk, over 71, has a heart condition and cancer, and has been in contact with people who have recently come from Europe.
Medical authorities are saying that Europe is now the epicentre of the pandemic and yet she still could not get tested!
The Chief Government Medical Officer says under the department’s definition of a ‘close contact’ is if you have been in contact with an infected person within the last 24 hours you must be quarantined and tested. From this he deduced that “No one at the cabinet meeting (with Peter Dutton who has the disease) is at risk of contracting the virus.”
Sheer nonsense, of course they are at risk. Debbie Kilroy and Boneta-Marie Mabo who were on the same plane as Dutton are infected with the disease.
Our leaders are telling us that we are in the middle of a medical and economic crisis and yet all they worry about is the bottom line for those with wealth.
The governor of California will not allow the crew of a cruise ship to come ashore for quarantine and treatment. They are on their own.
Perhaps during this crisis workers should act as if that is the case. We need to combat the disease and the system that has made its spread possible.
The other night I saw Bernie Sanders wipe the floor with Joe Biden in a debate for Democratic party nomination for President of the United States. Yet Biden is still the front runner for nomination and smashed Bernie Sanders in Florida and Illinois in Tuesday’s primaries!
It is the democratic party that is the problem. Biden voted against integration (that is busing African American kids to school in the 1960s), Biden supported the Kennedy’s who wanted to go to war with the USSR over Cuba, who took the US to Indo-China and killed millions of Vietnamese.
Biden voted to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Sanders voted against those crimes against humanity, yet he still can’t get the democratic party nomination. Sanders wants to attack the fossil fuel companies, Biden has voted to accommodate them and so on.
We need to self-isolate from the capitalists over the coming months, to keep strong for the crisis ahead. Especially if either Trump or Biden win the Presidential race.
In Australia, the ALP has sold out the workers on climate change, it should be providing alternative jobs in building infrastructure rather than digging up coal. Yet in Queensland that is what the Labor party is advocating.
You can’t trust the LNP, you can’t trust Labor.
