The Big Ride for Palestine 2019 in pictures

In early spring 2019, twenty-five riders and eight supporters set out on 160 km journey from Brisbane to Brunswick Heads to raise awareness about Palestine and to raise money for an agricultural project sponsored by union aid abroad APHEDA.

Lachlan Hurse who led the ride tells the story:

“The Big Ride for Palestine 2019 ended yesterday – Sunday September 1 – when 15 riders arrived at Brunswick Heads around 4 pm, having ridden almost 150 km over two days.

There were another 8 riders with us for part of the way.

We had a great support team, excellent camaraderie amongst the riders, and a very happy welcoming party organised by the Byron Bay Friends of Palestine.

We heard that we had raised almost $9000 for APHEDA – Union Aid Abroad partnering with the Ma’an Development Centre in Gaza, to support their Agriculture and Food Security projects.

Thanks to our sponsors: the Plumbers Union, the CFMEU, Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network (APAN), the MUA, Ground Technologies, Councillor Jonathan Sri, Sam’s Pizza and Ozzy Tyres for their sponsorship, as well as all the individual donors who contributed to the cause. End the Seige of Gaza! A Better World is Possible!” – Lachlan Hurse
