Knitting Nannas, Senator Waters & Drew Hutton support George Bender at Brisbane Knit-In

Dozens of Knitting Nannas Against Gas (KNAGs) from Qld and NSW will gather in Brisbane on Wednesday to support George Bender’s family in its battle against unconventional mining.

The Nannas will visit the offices of several coal seam gas (CSG) companies including Origin Energy, the company George Bender fought against for 10 years to keep them off their Chinchilla family property, until he took his own life this month.

George’s family has vowed to continue the battle now that he has gone.

The Nannas will also show their displeasure over the impacts of the industry by other companies including Santos and QGC on communities, farmlands, forests, water and our future.

Queensland Senator Larissa Waters and Lock the Gate’s president, Drew Hutton will join the KNAGs at King George Square at midday and Queensland Senator Glenn Lazarus will send them a special message of support.
