Following on from our anniversary celebrations we continue to bring great live music; this month our guest performers are Nice Verdes and Sue Wighton.
Nice Verdes first started playing music together back in 2003 when they met in Vancouver. Since then they have toured extensively throughout Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Guatemala and will be touring Europe later on in the year. Originals, Son Cubano, Vallenatos, Cumbias and more; the music of Nice Verdes is sunny and has a fresh approach to Indie world folk, using Tres Cubano, button and piano accordions, guitar, vocals and harmonicas [website].
Sue Wighton is a respected Brisbane-based singer/songwriter who’s sung just about everything from jazz to classical to folk. Whether performing covers or her own songs, Sue’s approach is honest, sometimes irreverent but always engaging. On stage, Sue’s unique blend of wit and warmth, delivered with humour, style and vocal beauty captures the hearts and minds of her audience.
Sue’s solo set will be enriched by Rebecca Wright’s warmly intuitive cello playing, and Ross Roache’s sympathetic harmonies on selected tunes. [website].
Jumping Fences: The song-writing partnership of Lachlan Hurse and Sue Monk, will be playing their energetic folk, tinged with Cuban flavours. Their original works contain imagery and styles that reveal both an incisive insight into Australian life and a long association with Latin American culture [website].
