Good News:

Introducing our new uranium campaigner: Mark Bailey

This week is the first anniversary of the Newman LNP uranium U-turn and it is a pleasure to introduce a new campaigner active in the struggle to keep the door closed to uranium mining in Queensland.

Mark Bailey comes to the role with extensive campaign experience, strong community, trade union and progressive political links and a baseload of renewable energy and enthusiasm for the campaign.

This campaign is an initiative of the Electrical Trades Union, the AMWU, TWS, the Queensland Conservation Council, ACF and regional environment groups.

Mark will be based at and hosted by the ETU and will work closely with Queensland eNGO’s.

If you would like to volunteer or learn more about the campaign:
Mark can be contacted via: mangocube6 or 0457 902 340

Action: Newman’s Queensland… the radioactive state?

NO URANIUM MINES IN QUEENSLAND!
CABINET ACTION
Monday 28 October
8:30am: Meet in Queen’s Park
Cnr George St, Elizabeth St Brisbane CBD

9am: March one block to Executive Bldg
@100 George St for protest

In October 2012 the LNP government, breaking a clear community commitment made repeatedly before and after the state election, announced it would open up a uranium industry in Queensland. The government has developed an implementation plan and is looking to start approving uranium mines next year.

Uranium is a radioactive heavy metal – it threatens workers, our community, our water and our environment. This industry must be stopped!

As this week is the first anniversary of the Newman State Government’s backflip on uranium mining, Keep Queensland Nuclear Free is marking it with a demonstration outside the Executive Building when Queensland cabinet ministers arrive for their regular Monday morning meeting.

Join us! It is time to let our politicians know that we will do whatever it takes to ensure this toxic industry does not go ahead.
