REPORT FROM FAMILIES ON MANUS ISLAND ON UNHCR VISIT- what a pity they are forbidden to take photos.

Yesterday guys from UNHCR (Halpurga Erslbrecht, Ben Farrel, Chris Leati)and DIAC (Kanwal Josan, Nikki Keirven) came to Manus Detention. At fisrt UNHCR walked with some of us and we showed them whole detention.Accomodaton anf facilities of here.Explain and complain about our situation. They were really shocked and counfused and could not answer to any manners as well.After a while all asylum seekrs from Iran and Iraq came to Adult School. Then HUNCR officers interduced themselves and started to answer our qustions. But as usual they couldnt answer our questions as well. Most of their worde were like this, ” Sorry to being here it is not our duty. We came here to visit the detention and we will talk to PNG Goverments and DIAC of Australia about your concerns.”
Kanwal Josan DIAC officer after dinner came to ue to answer our questions. Again he answered the same words to many qestions that you came after 13 August and this proccess must be done in here and you are selected to be here. We asked why DIAC did not answer our letter on time at 2 days ago and he said give us more couple of days. It was long letter and we try to response you as well.
Half an hour befor UNHCR came to the Detentain all the iranian,iraqi and aghnain families wre protesting and they had placards which had written on them:
“WE ARE ASYLUM SEEKERS NOT CRIMINALS,
HUMAN RIGHTS FOR AUSTRALIAN IN AUSTRALIA,
WELL DONE JULLIA GUILARD,
WE DONT FEEL SAFE HERE,
THERE IS NO PRIVECY FOR FAMILIES IN HERE, SEPRATE HUMANITY FROM POLICY”
and all kids were holiding FREEDOM in thier hands.
