This month we feature two great guest acts, and a variation on line-up for Jumping Fences!
Tommy Leonard: A fine singer and guitarist, Tommy had been troubadouring in Australia since 1990. His repertoire covers traditional and contemporary music from the english and not-so english-speaking worlds. [website].
Steve Tyson & The Industrious Felons: Steve Tyson’s 2010 solo release “Temple Dog” has been one of the most critically acclaimed folk/roots albums of recent years. A set of contemporary, story-based songs based on Steve’s travels throughout the world, the record garnered 4 star reviews in the national music press. Accompanied by longtime touring companions Dave Parnell and John Barr, Steve returns to Foco Nuevo to showcase songs from the album, plus some new material currently being recorded. In addition to his global adventures, Steve’s songs touch on family skeletons, political satire, and matters of the heart, all delivered with great musicianship, passion and soul. [website]
Jumping Fences: The song-writing partnership of Lachlan Hurse and Sue Monk will be exploring new territory with two wonderful musicians; Koji Matsunobu on shakuhachi and Khin Yee Lo on violin. For this special event they will bring new interpretations of Jumping Fences originals, as well as a mix of Latin American and Japanese folk songs. Something special for this Foco Nuevo! [website]
Hope to see you there,
Lachlan and Sue
