Phil Monsour – ‘Ghosts of Deir Yassin’: CD Launch April 21, 2012

We are all set to release the new 12 song CD, Ghosts of Deir Yassin in early 2012. The launch in Brisbane will be held at Souths Leagues Club on the 21st of April 7.30pm and the CD will be available on line in April. Special guests on the night include Mardi Lumsden, Ofa Fanaika (ex-Chocolate Strings) and a special reunion show by former Brisbane folk rock stars, Popproperly.

Most of the songs on Ghosts of Deir Yassin were written during and shortly after a trip to the Middle East. Inspired by a number of actual experiences, and grounded in real situations and the stories of real people, these are some of my most well written songs to date. It is also our best musical effort thanks to the great playing by Jon, Ian and Graham and the dedication and skill of Joe at Wavelength Recording.

In other big news I travelled overseas to film a video clip for the title song of the CD and spent 5 days filming on location in a number of refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon. The video is being edited in Jordan now and will be released shortly.
