Twelve 12 years ago [2014) a campaign against the stolen generations was led by Sam Watson and Karen Fusi from the Sovereign Grannies group here in Brisbane Magan-djin. Now on 18 May 2026, Sam’s grandson, Sam Woripa Watson is on the Global Sumud flotilla, bringing aid to Gaza during the genocide. His boat is being intercepted by the Israeli occupation forces with all on board prepared to be kidnapped and taken into detention. Sam has made a call out for everyone to support the flotilla

I remember when I went to the ‘centre’, a grandmother who lived on a town camp outside Alice Springs said ironically on the phone that I had better hurry before they closed the gap. She had real reason for concern . That never happened. Successive governments complicit in the genocide of first Nations people and now complicit in the genocide of the people in Gaza and it is being left to ordinary people to challenge the illegal blockade of Gaza by Israel.

You have to wonder what possible charge could Israel have against the samud activists?
