Israel’s war on Iran – no opposition within

The Israeli opposition cannot condemn Netanyahu, while it exaggerates to condemn his war on Iran. Israel will soon be left deserted, after being thrown aside without American support, it will face a concrete existential threat: the rockets will cease, to reveal the economic, psychological, and social scars of a country that favored its military industry and its dangerous dictatorship on the interests of its people.

Anyone who admires the “tremendous achievements” in this war, supports it unconditionally, and believes that Israel will come out of it stronger and more secure, should support its maker, Benjamin Netanyahu. One cannot believe at the same time that he is the most failed Prime Minister Israel has ever known, as the opposition does with its families, and at the same time admire his greatest and most historical project.

This war against Iran is not just another maneuver. It’s the maneuver, the one he will remember forever – it’s his legacy. Admiring war is admiring Netanyahu. Starting it may take a lot of guts or stupidity. Both Jews Barak, Gadi Eisenkot, Yair Lapid, Yair Golan, and Nftali Bennett, who can’t stop applauding the war and smear the army that is executing it, can no longer form an opposition to Netanyahu. If they support war they better go with the original. He, as they too see, is leading her with skill. And if they support it, there is no opposition in Israel.

The problem is that it is more and more apparent that this war may lead us to the brink of an unprecedented abyss. This crazy adventure was doomed. Iranian regime may not fall, the nuclear threat may remain, ballistic missiles remain a danger, and Israel may find itself stuck in Lebanon again. On the other hand, it may find itself at the end of the war without the United States – a far greater danger than Iran’s nuclear program.

Without American support, Israel would be left deserted, and face a real existential threat. And this scenario is alarmingly quickly turning to the most likely; as calls in the US to distance away from Israel increase rapidly across different political spectrums. And the statements being heard now are chilling, from people who were not before the war who dare to express such views in such a way. In fact, Israel has only Donald Trump left, fragile, volatile and temporary support. The world is just waiting for the chance to settle the score with the elusive Israel, which has not been listened to, after losing its American umbrella.

And this is what Israel supports today, similar to unanimously, pushing blindly into the abyss. A whopping 93% of Jewish surveyors (according to a survey by the Israeli Democracy Institute) – a proportion of North Korea – and 100% of the Jewish opposition (in accordance with Belarus). All those who hate Netanyahu and constantly warn of the danger he represents – and they are many – are suddenly impressed by his biggest adventure. And this is not straightforward, neither logically nor morally.

Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak says admiration: “Impressive achievements of the Israeli army and impressive civilian resilience, but Hamas is still in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Ayatullah in Iran.”

You have to choose: either they are brilliant achievements – and they should also be attributed to Netanyahu – or it is a dangerous and absurd war of misguidance, when it is your duty to keep fighting against him to the end. What have these “achievements” for the army, Barack? Will increasing Israeli arms sales benefit in the future? Or the American aircraft industry? Have you been removed from the status of Air Force pilots or materials and military intelligence? These are not reasons to start a war. And if it ends as it began, with the Ayat Allah, Hamas and Hezbollah remaining in power, as it seems now, these achievements are nothing but a mirage.

But the “civil resilience” that Barack admires is short-lived. When the rockets stop, the economic, psychological, and social scars will be fully revealed. Nobody took it into account when Israel went to war: no worry for children in shelters, no economic distress for them, and no consequences of living in a constant war for years. We are still in the midst of this war, but it is already clear that it desperately needs an opposition – not an opposition that glares the war and undermines only who leads it.

  1. “ … it was good to see in a later rally and a vigil, organised by the Iranian diaspora, some Green members (Trina Massey and others) . These organisers resolutely stood for the slogan “No Mullah, No Sha ” as championed by the Iranians in Germany. Sadly no one else from the Left attended.” – Mitch Thompson.

I am uncertain what is meant by the ‘Left’?

Today I attended the annual Palm Sunday Peace rally along with about 1000 others, many of whom you may think would constitute ‘the Left’.

There were large numbers of Iranians in attendance both for and against the Shah. The Iranian speaker made pretty much the same points as everyone else about US imperialism.

The Shia speaker attacked the notion that Persian women are not liberated. He made the point that ‘feminist opportunists’ in the US should not bomb Iran into acceptance of the US brand of ‘feminism’ (whatever that is).

It would’ve been nice to hear a little bit more about what the Iranian speaker knows about what is happening in Tehran as it is being carpet bombed during this mad imperialist adventure by the zionists and the US government.

After his speech the Iranians were heckled by Shah supporters. Curiously, the pro-shah group were seated in the Pig & Whistle Bar enclosure. They performed an authentic Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi when approached by the police.

There are diamonds on the river
      There are diamonds floating free
From the river to the sea,
There are diamonds on the river
      Palestine will be free

Wise men say only fools rush in
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?
Take my hand, take my whole life too
Some things are meant to be
Like a river flows surely to the sea
      Palestine will be free

Take my hand, take my whole life too
From the river to the sea,
      Palestine will be free
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
      Palestine 🇵🇸 will be free!

    2. The US government murdered 168 schoolgirls while trying to obtain regime change in Iran.

AI played a large role in the targeting of the town of Moniab where the girls went to school…

Think about it. Every time you use AI, you burn a village or, at the very least, are complicit in the murder of children.

Regardless of claims of oversimplification, the reality for the families of the school girls and complicity of AI in their murder is real.
