Rally for Peace NOT WAR at the Labor Party National Conference Friday 18th August
Convention Centre, Crn Glenelg and Merivale Sts Sth Brisbane 8:30 – 11am
For the past months preparations by the NoAUKUSQld coalition have been underway to demonstrate community opposition to the war preparation policies of the past decade, continued under the current Labor government, at the National ALP Conference.
The AUKUS agreement secretly plotted during the Morrison government term, was effectively rubber stamped by the newly elected Albanese/Marles Labor Government. The costs are many with billions of dollars being allocated for nuclear propelled submarines, missiles and infrastructure to facilitate US-UK use of the lands of First Nations peoples and all Australians. It also consolidates to our regional neighbours our USA Deputy Sheriff status and as a sub-imperial power.
WE NEED YOU TO BE THERE AT THE RALLY FOR PEACE NOT WAR!!!
A nuclear sub prop has been created with support from the National Tertiary Education Union and the Electrical Trades Union and many hours of creative work from a small group of peace activists in Brisbane. See interim photo below but there is more text to add including a NO and a list on the other side of all the social needs not being met as a result of the vast sums of money allocated to facilitate Australia becoming a fully fledged US base.
WE NEED PEOPLE ON THE DAY OF THE RALLY TO HOLD PLACARDS, HAND OUT INFORMATION FLYERS, CARRY THE SUB PROP FROM THE ETU TO THE CONVENTION CENTRE (meet at ETU 7:30am)
WE INTEND TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT TO THE MANY UNIONISTS AND LABOR PARTY MEMBERS WHO ARE CALLING FOR AUKUS TO BE SCRAPPED AND FOR OUR COUNTRY TO CHART OUR OWN COURSE, TOWARDS AN INDEPENDENT PEACEFUL AUSTRALIA!!PLEASE RSVP TO THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR AVAILABILITY TO ATTEND AND ASSIST
