To the Editor of The Echo
Dear Aslan,
I have submitted 3 letters to you all within the word limit, all well researched and all well written, but not published. I draw your attention to the obligation all of us have under the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid to combat apartheid. Byron Friends of Palestine and also, no doubt, our friends in Israel and Palestine, would like to know why the Echo is boycotting Palestine.
Tomorrow we go to Melbourne to attend the AFOPA (Australian Friends of Palestine) conference where I shall be sharing our experience with the Echo. I have posted my letters on Facebook with the following comment, the Byron Echo refuses to publish my letters dealing with the contradiction between Israel’s apartheid status and Australia’s love of Israel. Please contact them at 02 6684 1777 or at editor@echo.net.au and demand an explanation.
Like our own Aborigines, the Palestinians are the victims of full frontal brutality by settler colonists. We cannot turn a blind eye to this outrage!
We are deeply disappointed in the Echo as we have come to expect over the years, that it is a voice for humanitarian and environmental reason, printing what the mainstream press suppresses.
