![]() Asleep at the Reel evoke the sound of the lively Irish pub. The band’s repertoire is powered by the deft song writing of Brisbane historian, Mark Cryle, who rose to prominence in the 1990s with Spot the Dog. Cryle’s songs, according to a recent reviewer in Dublin’s Irish Music Magazine, ‘evoke the centres of our Irish world whether it be the pub or the Parish; he has conjured up places where craic and companionship are the glue of life’. |
![]() Jumping Fences — the hosts of Foco Nuevo — play a unique mix of Latin American and original songs. The song-writing partnership of Sue Monk on guitar and vocals, and Lachlan Hurse on electric bass, together with James Harper on drums and Ross Gwyther on tenor sax and clarinet, perform arrangements that move easily between tenderness and energy, supporting lyrics that reveal an incisive insight into Australian life. |
