WECA opposes Twin Towers on Montague

There seems to be a whole new way of looking at life and death here in Victoria Street. If you’re burned to death in Pymble, Redfern or Panania you’re an accident victim. If you’re burned to death in Victoria Street you are a derelict.

We post this newsletter from West End Community Association calling on some sanity in the development of West End. Two more stupid towers have been approved by council. It is hard to stop the developers’ greed, even harder to stop the retail spending of residents in that area upon which the development is based. – Ian Curr, 4 June 2021.

Twin Towers at 281-297 Montague Road West End?

The development application for 2 x 25 storey towers on Montague Road (A005608649) exceeds the allowable height (12 storeys and 6 storeys) in exchange for 4000m2 to be added to Davies Park.

The applicant has lodged their  Council’s Information Request. with no reduction in height/units and claims that they have had “extensive community consultation phase and received favorable support letters have been included from adjoining property stakeholders.”

West End Community Association (WECA) opposes this proposal of excessive development that disregards the South Brisbane Riverside Neighbourhood Plan (SBRNP).

WECA thanks you for your interest and action in preventing the erosion of Queensland planning law.
