Every family in Palestine loses a heartbeat with the unexpected call or knock on the door. Every family in Palestine knows someone who has been murdered by Israel. Be it by assassin’s bullet, a “settler’s” firebomb, or the toddler denied medical life support. Israel is a criminal. – Stanley Cohen
BDS on TripAdvisor over Palestine
Amnesty has collected more than 310,000 signatures, including 33,000 people in the UK, all demanding TripAdvisor stops profiting from crimes against Palestinians.
Amnesty were planning to deliver our petition to the offices of TripAdvisor last month and present them with a Certificate of Occupation – for exceptional profits made from war crimes against Palestinians.
Due to the current situation, we are not able to physically deliver our petition but we have written to TripAdvisor to ask why they haven’t removed their listings in illegal settlements from their platform, and we certainly won’t let COVID-19 stand in the way of our solidarity.
This pandemic is dominating headlines, and we must not forget that the oppression and discrimination in the occupied Palestinian Territory has left tens of thousands of people incredibly vulnerable to the dangers of the virus. The situation could become even worse if Israel goes ahead with its plan to unlawfully annex the occupied West Bank, which could happen as early as 1 July.
Amnesty are ramping up activity and continuing to campaign for states and companies to do the right thing. In the case of TripAdvisor, that means it stops boosting the illegal settlement economy which has a hugely negative impact on the health of Palestinians. Instead, it de-lists accommodation, activities and attractions in the illegal settlements.
