I am pleased to announce that PACSI will be hosting Ghada Karmi from 3/9/2015 until 5/9/2015.
Ghada Karmi was an originally displaced person from Palestine, she was 9 years old living in Jerusalem in 1948, her father then moved the family to the UK where she became a doctor treating refugees and other displaced people.
Ghada then became a Palestinian activist and writer.
Her first book “In Search of Fatima” is one of the best books I have ever read about being displaced and searching for a place to call home when you no longer have a nation. She will be in Australia to promote her newest book, “Return, A Palestinian Memoir“.
There are two events that have been confirmed.
The first is a book signing and Q&A at Avid Reader on Friday 4 September 2015, be there at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
You can buy tickets directly from Avid Reader.
There will be finger food available (all halal).
The second event is an intimate dinner of 60 people on Saturday 5th Sept and a talk with Ghada at a restaurant called “Suburban” in West End.
Tickets are $50 per head and unfortunately, there are no discounts as we are only covering costs.
Ghada will speak and there will be a 4 course Middle Eastern meal provided be there at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

If you have any questions or would like to attend the events please do not hesitate to respond to this email personally.
I am sure Ghada would appreciate meeting Palestinian supporters here in Brisbane. We are a vast group and the third biggest city in Australia, so let us show her that we are strong and united. I hope to see you all at either the Avid Reader event or the Dinner event.
