Protest for Refugee Rights outside Brisbane’s Detention Centre

Children, women and men are languishing in detention behind lock and key in detention centres in Australia, Nauru and Manus Island, including right here in Brisbane; and also on bridging visas in the community without enough to live on or the right to work. This is for no more than seeking asylum, which is no crime. Join us to demand their freedom and for an end to mandatory detention. We will be protesting alongside refugee rights advocates converging on Yongah Hill Detention Centre at Northam, WA, over the Anzac weekend.

When: 1pm, Saturday 27th April.

Where: 100 Sugarmill Rd, Pinkenba.

Getting there:
There will be a car pool organised from Doomben railway station on the day. Catch the train at Central at 12.18pm to reach Doomben at 12.35pm. For further details contact us.

Further info, now or on the day (also if you are stranded or running late):

Your message will give solace to the men enduring this hunger strike and remind others that FREEDOM is not a gift to be denied by politicians for
political purposes but a RIGHT guaranteed to us as a democracy.

Remember no other country has found it necessary to lock up TAMIL REFUGEES as a threat – only Australia.
Please pass on …
