Anti-war vigil at Redcliffe

Australian Government Community Cabinet Meeting
5.00pm Wednesday, 14 Nov 2012
Hercules Rd. Primary School, Kippa-Ring

There will be an Australian Government Cabinet Meeting in Redcliffe on 14 November.

I had applied for a meeting with Bob Carr (Foreign Minister) but have been informed today that I have been unsuccessful.

It would not been confirmed whether I missed out or that he will not in fact be attending this cabinet meeting.

I had intended to ask questions in relation to West Papua, Afghanistan and Palestine.

Nevertheless I do have a ticket to the public forum and will have the opportunity to ask one question.

At the Swan Island Peace Convergence I suggested that with one year (now less) until the next federal election, we take every opportunity to confront Julia Gillard and her government regarding the reality of the war in Afghanistan.

The Afghani people do not have a voice in this country and neither the media or any politicians are putting the government under any pressure over this war that has now passed the 11 year mark.

Gillard gave a speech to parliament on 31 October which merely continued the deceit around the prosecution of the occupation of Afghanistan.

I am asking for people to join me next Wednesday to witness against Australia’s continued participation in this war and to stand in support of the Afghani people.

The ministerial meetings commence at 5.00pm. I will be there by 4.30pm and suggest that we gather by 4.45pm.

For those that can attend please be in touch,

Sean OReilly
