The LNP only polled 35.13% of the primary vote in the Redcliffe by-election on 22 Feb 2014.
Qld Local Government Reform Alliance ran an independent candidate in the Redcliffe by-election, Len Thomas, who drew over 10% of the primary vote. Len advocated for de-amalgamation back to Redcliffe’s own council breaking away from the mega-council of Noosa, Redcliffe and Pine Rivers.
John Marshall, Australian Greens polled 3.7% which a lot less than in the federal by-election in Griffith just two weeks ago where the Greens polled nearly 11%.
Another independent for the Liberal democrats, Gabe Buckley, campaigned for community engagement, for small business, de-amalgamation — self-determination, the ability for a community to decide for itself how it should be governed. “The experiment with big government has proven to be an abject failure; let’s bring back Redcliffe City Council” Gabe Buckley said. Gabe Buckley polled 0.97% of the vote.
