Fellow concerned citizen,
A Public Meeting will be held on Sunday 13th March, 4:30pm at Rangers Rugby Club, Woodend Park, Woodend Rd.
To date, our elected representatives from local and state government have sympathised with our concerns about the gross inappropriateness of the Leda Development at North Ipswich:
- Riverlinks Central plans to build hundreds of flood prone units on the site.
- Massive contamination has already washed from the site during the recent floods, and we remain concerned about the possibility of further release of contamination from the site.
- Surrounding suburbs will be more flood prone after their earthworks are completed, and flooding is directed away from the Riverlinks Central site towards the opposite banks of the Bremer River.
Bob Ell, the owner of Leda Developments and the Riverlinks Central site, will be invited to attend the meeting to hear the concerns of local residents.
Invited guests are:
Councillor Andrew Antoniolli
Councillor Cheryl Bromage (Councillor for North Ipswich and responsible for Environment issues)
Rachel Nolan, State Member for Ipswich
Wayne Wendt, State Member for Ipswich West
John Nugent, who has a long track record as an advocate for local government and the environment has been invited to moderate the meeting.
It is apparent that there is widespread concern in the local community about this development. Recent flooding has reminded us that Ipswich is situated on a flood plain and that good planning would prohibit this kind of inappropriate development.
There will be a short presentation describing the issues with this development followed by a Q & A session.
It is crucial that we have a large turnout at this Public Meeting.
Please contact your friends and neighbours to get as as many as possible to attend.
If you can assist with the organising, please advise.
