Foco Nuevo in April

Thanks to those who made our first birthday celebrations last month such a lovely night.

For April we’re returning to Ahimsa House with great guest musicians. For our part Jumping Fences will be a little different – while our drummer and percussionist are away, we will be having a special guest with us, Leonor Orellana, a Guatemalan singer who performed with us in the late 1980s in the group Gaviota.

Little Secrets formed in early 2004. The members, Rob Stewart, Tony Mockeridge and Michael Tully had just completed recording their album, Life Gets Better, and after nearly a year in the studio had a strong desire to continue writing, recording and performing their own music.

The band’s music swings between folk/rock, blues and country and covers topics as diverse as teenage angst, cricket and love. They are driven by a desire to create music that has an emotional and cultural resonance to reach out engage the audience.

Wes Taylor: Acclaimed guitarist, singer and composer Wes Taylor entertains performing his original Latin guitar repertoire from his album Flamenco Flamboyan along with a spicy mix of jazz standards and popular soul tunes.
In the tradition of Jose Feliciano, Al Di Meola and other notable guitarist/composers, Wes brings to the stage his pure joy of performing. [website]

Jumping Fences will again be bringing their unique mix of original and Latin American songs with Sue Monk, Lachlan Hurse, Ross Gwyther and Leonor Orrellana. [website].

Foco Nuevo is a reference to Brisbane’s FOCO Club, a lively and alternative performance space which ran on a weekly basis during the late 1960s.

Looking forward to seeing you there,
Lachlan and Sue
