FOCO NUEVO — the last?

foco nov

Come along to our last Foco Nuevo for the year and celebrate!

26 Horan Street, West End
Friday 28th November
8.00 p.m.

The future of Foco Nuevo is in doubt following changes in the leasing arrangements at Ahimsa House but we’re investigating possibilities to build on the momentum that we’ve established over 2008 and keep Foco Nuevo going into 2009.

Thanks to all of our supporters and guest artists for making Foco Nuevo a great experience throughout the year. It has shown the breadth of musicianship in Brisbane, and the willingness of musicians and audiences to play and listen to a extraodinary diversity of music.

For this month Jumping Fences will be playing in their full line-up of: Sue Monk (guitar and vocals), Lachlan Hurse (bass), Ross Gwyther (tenor sax and clarinet), James Harper (percussion) and Dan Simpson (drums).

Our guests artists for November:
Mic Travers Band The Mic Travers Band presents Mic’s original songs. Featuring Lina Hammond on vocal harmonies and percussion with Dave Hoffmann on tenor sax, Erin Roberts on violin and Jennifer Fahey on flute and whistle. Mic and the crew look forward to stopping in at Foco Nuevo to present songs of life from their upcoming album honed and road tested on tens of thousand sets of ears over endless nights.

Mark Shortis brings his unique blend of classical guitar, satire and wit to Foco Nuevo, accompanied by Mark Dunbar (flute) and Gary Nunn (accordian).

Foco Nuevo is a reference to Brisbane’s FOCO Club, a lively and alternative performance space which ran on a weekly basis during the late 1960s.

Hope to see you there,
Lachlan and Sue
