GOMA screens Paisà [Paisan] by Rossellini
Roberto Rossellini’s film, Paisà , exposes myths of war in this case during the American Army’s ‘liberation’ of Italy in 1944 and 1945. The film is important because it shows the difference between officially sanctioned newreels of the time and what really happened on the ground.
Gallery of Modern Art [GOMA] in Brisbane is screening this revealing film again on:—
Fri 26 Sept 8.00pm / Cinema A.
I recommend this film.
Entry is free.
23 September 2008
Some footage from the film is shown below [both excerpts depict violence].
