Australia recognises Palestine after genocide complete

In ann qad aana awanuh / If the pain endures, then its time has come.—Daboor.

On 16 September 2025, the UN Commission of Inquiry declared what many have known for the last two years, that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza. Is Renee Coffey, Labor member, for Griffith complicit in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians?

On the 21st of September 2025 the Australian government recognised the state of Palestine. Australian recognition insists that Hamas be excluded from all government.

An open letter to the Member for Griffith about our complicity in genocide?

Palestinians flee Gaza city flattened by genocidal Israelis using American munitions.

1. A precondition of the Australian government recognition of the state of Palestine is that Hamas be excluded from all government in Gaza and the West Bank. Shame!

Gaza City is under military occupation. American bombs have destroyed all infrastructure. There are no hospitals, no pipelines, no water, no electricity, no schools.
What are the boundaries of Palestine recognised by the Australian government?

Under Australia’s declaration of recognition who takes responsibility for removing the occupation forces and bringing them to account?

2. Armed Settlers are shooting Palestinians in the West Bank in towns and villages where they have stolen land,  olive groves, and houses of Palestinians that they are shooting

Who will bring settler/murderers to account?

3. Gaza City is under military occupation. American bombs have destroyed all infrastructure. There are no hospitals, no pipelines, no water, no electricity, no schools.

Who will end the military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank?

4. Why did Australia recognise Palestine after Gaza was destroyed, and the UN finally recognised the genocide?

Why does Australia refuse to impose sanctions on Israel? Why does Australia refuse to end all diplomatic ties with Israel? Why is Australia increasing the arms trade with Israel while the genocide is ongoing?

After the genocide is complete, a UN genocide committee of inquiry finally concludes that a genocide is occurring in Gaza. Surely, this is not a serious statement confirming what has been happening “publicly” since 1948.

Questions for my local member for Griffith

“Is it appropriate that Australian MPs in office should be promoting the future funds ownership of Elbit systems shares when it was an Elbit systems Hermes 450 drone that killed Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom in Gaza on April 1st, 2024?”

As of October 2023, the Future Fund’s direct holding in Elbit Systems was about AUD $488,768.

By 30 June 2024, that value had increased to about AUD $1.33 million. That’s an increase of ~172%.

On 16 September 2025, a UN Commission of Inquiry made the Genocide declaration in a report to the UN.

UN General assembly has power to authorize a collective action intervention via a Uniting for Peace resolution without the authority of the Security council (because of U.S. veto) .

Renee Coffey, will you support Uniting for Peace resolution in reliance on this report as the next step in stopping the genocide?

However, it turns out that we are all complicit because the Australian Future Fund, worth over $272 billion, owns shares in Elbit Systems.

“A Freedom of Information request by NSW Greens Senator David Shoebridge, filed last October, revealed that as much as $600 million from the Australian Future Fund had found its way to defence companies.

Despite Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, Elbit Systems managed to convince the Australian government to throw $917 million its way in a contract signed in February 2024.” – Source: Green Left Weekly

It was an Elbit systems Hermes 450 drone that killed Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom in April 2024. Israel’s ‘Defence’ Forces (IDF) targeted and bombed her car and her World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy just after Zomi had just finished delivering humanitarian food packages to Palestinians in central Gaza. How angry her family must feel.

Renee Coffey, did Australia’s future fund assist Israel in Australia killing one of its own citizens? And if so will you advocate for the future fund divestment from Israel?

The WCK convoy was travelling in a designated “deconflicted” zone. An Elbit Systems Hermes 450 drone fired three missiles at WCK cars. All vehicles had the WCK logo prominently displayed. WCK had been closely coordinating the movements of their personnel with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Given the urgency of the situation and the lives at stake please provide your answers by the 24th September 2025.

There are no excuses for this complicity. Israel’s stated purpose is to starve and kill Palestinians in Gaza. Over 600,000 people, including 380,000 children, have been slaughtered by Israel since 7 October 2023. The member for Griffith, her parliamentary colleagues, all of us should be held to account, but none will. We all have blood on our hands.

Australians are all complicit because it is our sovereign future fund that supports the genocide. It is time to bring us to account. I hate my country. I have no country. I rescind my citizenship. I will never forgive my local MP and her government and the opposition for taking away our innocence. We should pledge to do everything in our power to divorce ourselves from this evil administration.

Children of the rubble in Gaza

Palestine Action said it will be “targeting all firms which have dirtied their hands by partaking in Elbit’s business of bloodshed.

Israel’s war crimes, and Elbit’s production of drones to facilitate these, rely on thousands of complicit suppliers, landlords, shippers, and financiers for their effective operations.

It should be clear by now that we will not rest until Elbit is shut down, making the choice clear for all complicit firms. Cease dealings with Elbit or get shut down along with them”.

Mike Amesbury is the local Labour MP. “I would be very disappointed if any components used for military hardware involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are being manufactured in my constituency,” he said.

Conclusion
In response the British Labour government has proscribed Palestine Action and called them all ‘terrorists‘. Shame on Keir Stamer! Shame on the Labour government, there and here! The world is waking up to the fact that the Labor party is on the wrong side of history! A 10% swing against the Labour government in Britain would spell its termination. It is possible that the racist Reform UK Party may then form government. World leaders are taking us back to the 1930s, toward fascism.

Australia’s Future Fund, which is a sovereign wealth fundholds shares in Elbit Systems a weapons company that is actively participating in the genocide of the Palestinians. My local MP Renee Coffey holds shares in Future Generation Australia Ltd which is a privately managed investment fund.

There are no clear links between the latter and weapons companies, as opposed to the Future Fund. It seems, however, that the Future Generation Australia LTD invests in BHP and Santos, companies actively destroying the Australian environment.

  1. Ian Curr, I think you have misunderstood Australia’s recognition, it has no say in any of those matters. They will be negotiated between the PLO and the super-powers. The significance of Australia etc. recognising a Palestinian state is it empowers the PLO in those negotiations.

    1. John T. I think you have misunderstood the origin of fascism … it has emerged from European settler colonial states like Australia who have a seat at the table of other settler states by supporting US and Israeli (they both have no borders) imperialism. That is why Australia has signed up to AUKUS. Like Israel’s death camp in Gaza, Australia has its own concentration camps … Cherbourg is one.

    2. Ian Curr, what I think is you couldn’t expect a Palestinian to debate a Zionist nor actually an Israeli whose child, etc, was murdered by the incursions on Oct 7

      1. Jim Prentice,

I think you have misunderstood the origin of Zionism. It did not come from Palestine. It came from Europe.

After the Holocaust in Germany, there was not one European leader or leading intellectual who said to the Jewish refugees, “Come back, we will find you a home in Europe.

These European leaders were happy for Zionists to steal Palestinian homes, olive groves, and land, the so-called two state solution sanctioned by the UN in 1948.

Palestinians who argue with Zionists about theft of their land are shot dead or blown to smithereens!

        1. yes ok thats historically accurate but the only solution was a combined democratic state in which land rights were protected ……I dont have the answers but at the moment a two state solution is the only think that seems a real proposition

          1. UN vote for Palestine

Jim Prentice I have listened to the two-state solution lie for over 50 years. The massacre of Palestinians is the reason for the Yes vote to recognise Palestine. Israel is a military dictatorship and therefore no longer viable if it ever was. What boundaries is the UN voting for? How does it propose to end the military dictatorship of Israel? How do the Yes states propose to put an end to the death camps of Gaza? One democratic state of Palestine from the river to the sea!

  2. MEDIA STATEMENT: Response to False Allegations Regarding Constituent Visit to the electorate office of the Hon. Renee Coffey, Member for Griffith

We categorically reject the false and defamatory claims made by Renee Coffey claiming that we harassed here staff during our visit yesterday.

    THE FACTS
    – Constituents have been respectfully requesting a meeting with Ms Coffey since her election regarding Woodside’s North West Shelf extension which is now approved
    – Despite repeated attempts through the normal and proper channels, Ms Coffey has consistently avoided scheduling this important meeting
    – Yesterday’s visit was a peaceful and lawful attempt by concerned citizens to request face-to-face dialogue on the critical issue of Australia’s contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions as the world’s third largest exporter of fossil fuels
    – At no time were any members of the group aggressive or threatening in either words or actions
    – At no time did any constituent or supporter engage in the behaviour Ms Coffey claims to have witnessed and to the best of our knowledge, if Ms Coffey is referring to our visit, we were advised she was not present.

    OUR POSITION:
The right of constituents to meet with their elected representatives is fundamental to our democratic process. Ms Coffey’s refusal to engage with her constituents on this matter of national importance is disappointing, but her decision to now falsely characterise peaceful democratic participation as “harassment” is both misleading and concerning.

WE CALL ON MS COFFEY TO:
    – Retract these false allegations immediately
    – Schedule the requested meeting to discuss how she as a leader in the Labor Environment Action Network can amplify the voices of her constituents in federal parliament and in the improvement of Labor’s environment policy platform
    – Engage constructively with constituents rather than avoiding legitimate democratic discourse.
