Yet our national broadcaster, the ABC, has yet to use the word genocide for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza.

Why is the Gaza death count always minimised, even by supporters of Palestine? The official Hamas numbers are only those killed by bullets and bombs that the hospital system is aware of, which doesn’t include people lost under rubble or buried without going to hospital first. However based on studies of other wars, the indirect deaths – disease, starvation, suicides, mercy killings, etc. could be as much as fifteen times those killed by bullets and bombs, that means the genocide rate could be as high as 45%, or even more because this war is more brutal on civilians than the average war. Of course the genocide is far greater than the numbers coming from the health department in Gaza. But that is the only count we have.
No one knows how many people have been murdered by Israel’s genocide in Gaza or in the West Bank. That is why they predicate each statement by the words “at least.”
The only number that is accurate is the number of IDF soldiers who are killed in Gaza.
Isn’t your morbid fascination with numbers of dead Palestinians since 7 October 2023 just perpetuating the myth that the Israeli genocide of the Palestinians began then.

There is enough history of war to estimate the ratio between combat deaths and indirect deaths, as the Lancet link does, to know that your estimate of 3% deaths is a ridiculous understatement. Why downplay the genocide?
Israel’s mischievous use of Holocaust history does not cancel or discredit the reality of European genocide. Finklestein’s family survived the holocaust and has an opinion about how that history has been misused, however the rest of us from a Christian-European heritage should never forget what our society did to the Jews.
No, genocide is never a single event and I certainly never said it was. However your question denies the significance of what has happened since October 7 2023 which was the launch of the “Final Solution” in Gaza and the most intense violence since 1948, which was only made possible by the October 7 attack. Your question perpetuates the myth that October 7 attack was just ongoing Palestinian resistance, I say it was an Israel/US plot that used Hamas to destroy the peace deal brokered by China prior to October 7 2023, and to trigger the Final Solution in Gaza.

Certainly Israel appears to have invoked the Hannibal directive against its own people, but that does not mean it was an U.S / Israel plot … Hamas has been attacking and capturing Israeli soldiers since protective edge.

Does the Lancet claim to know the number of deaths in Gaza, I think not. They are trying to alert people to the medical emergency Gaza has become since 7 October. .
Don’t forget the genocide in Europe was not directed solely at Jews, it was directed as Poles, Roma, Gays, Communists, Russians anyone who stood in opposition to the Nazis and their absurd belief in the super race.
Jewish people were intimately intertwined in German culture, economics, politics, architecture…. in all aspects of modern Germany.
The Nazis were not Christians … in the same way Zionists do not follow religion or culture of the Jewish people.
In fact, they have not only stolen land but have appropriated Arab culture.
