Covid hits Gaza

There is no time to wait, the situation is now critical in Gaza.
Urgent action is required to prevent a wave of avoidable deaths in Gaza over the coming weeks and months.

As of this week, there have been 100,405 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Gaza and 884 deaths, with hospitals struggling to cope with the influx of patients into Intensive Care Units. With just 1% of Gaza’s population vaccinated, the UK variant of COVID-19 has been spreading fast. The surge in patients coming to Gaza’s hospitals is putting unbearable pressure on doctors, nurses and allied health workers. They need our support.
At Medical Aid for Palestinians, we have staff working in Gaza to help provide hospitals with the drugs and medical items they desperately need. Our team is confident that we are one of the quickest and most efficient international aid responders in Gaza; with your support we can ensure that hospitals receive lifesaving supplies when they need them most.
We have recently provided drugs and medical items to help care for patients with severe COVID-19 disease, including antibiotics, steroids, fluids, clot prevention/treatment drugs, sedatives and anaesthetic agents. Thank you for the support you have previously given to help make this all possible.
Now we need your support to do more.
MAP, right now, is urgently supplying Gaza’s hospitals with the following items: Enoxaparin – to prevent and treat life threatening blood clots Colistin – antibiotic for life threatening chest infections Oxygen cylinders – needed when moving seriously ill patients and when oxygen generators fail or are overwhelmed by demand Full facial masks for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices Nasal masks for CPAP devices High flow nasal cannulae Non-sterile latex gloves (disposable)

In order to supply these items we need to raise US$100,000. Please make a donation today to help us reach our target. Our Gaza appeal is eligible for Zakat donations.

Thank you,
