Apartheid is not Green

Australian Teenagers planting trees on stolen land in Palestine under tax deductible charity JNF

To tax-deductible charity organizations’ – Dylan

The Jewish National Fund (JNF) is a registered Australian charity which touts its green credentials by planting millions of trees and, to foster its political objectives, naming forests after prominent people like Prime Ministers Bob Hawke and Julia Gillard and Governor General Sir Zelman Cohen.

The John Howard Forest, for example, in Nahal Assaf, Northern Negev is part of the Blueprint Negev plan to increase Jewish settlement at the expense of the Bedouin who are simply displaced.

Four hundred “unrecognised” Palestinian villages ethnically cleansed under cover of the 1948 war have been painstakingly resurrected in Walid Khalidi’s opus, All That Remains: The Palestinian Villages Occupied and Depopulated by Israel in 1948.

Forests were planted over the remains of these razed villages and, under Israel’s 1950 Absentees’ Property Law, the thousands of 1948 Palestinian refugees and their descendents remain stateless refugees outside the borders of the State of Israel and their properties stolen because they are denied the right of return.

In Gaza, some can actually see where their homes were but remain trapped as refugees in their own country! The only thing green about the JNF are the envious looks Israeli settlers level at Palestinian homes and farms. The JNF should lose its charitable status.
