International Women’s Day is celebrated widely today all around the world. But its radical working class roots have all but been forgotten. Initiated by socialist Clara Zetkin in 1910 and originally called International Working Women’s Day, it began to highlight the struggle for women’s rights and how they are inextricably linked to the struggle against Capitalism.
International Women’s Day has a long radical history. From being the spark that ignited the 1917 Russian revolution, the massive street marches of the 70’s to today. Join Socialist Alternative for an inspiring presentation and discussion. All Welcome.
FEATURING JANEY STONE a life-long socialist. Janey was involved in the Women’s Liberation Movement, the Anti-Vietnam War Movement and many others, and is also an active unionist.
